Never Two Late started about 3-4 years ago. We visited some local marinas in Nottingham and outlying areas looking for a narrowboat. The sales manager from Castle Marina Nottingham advised us to have one built. He thought it was the best option if we could do it. He suggested we visit Boughton camp near Ollerton. He mentioned there are a couple of boat builders there. So, we popped down one afternoon. We came across X R & D. After speaking to them for probably an hour or so, we were impressed. They were great guys, and they seemed passionate, so Steve booked a slot and paid the deposit before we left. I can’t remember exactly how long the waiting list was. Still, it was a while, so we were excited. Our dream started becoming a reality while we were there. We were looking at the boats they were building. That’s when we met Andy Dence, who fitted everything out. He does engine, electrics. You name it, everything inside apart from the steelworks. So we asked him also to fit our boat out because we had a look at his workmanship. It was just amazing. Fast forward about a year. Because we live so close, we watched Never Two Late become a reality. Most weeks we would pop over and have a look. The build started in 2020, around June or July, I believe. Hence, we videoed most of it so that we had a record of it. You can see all this on our vlog. If you click on the picture, it will take you to our YouTube channel. We’re nearly at the end now. We’ll be moving on at the end of February. You’ll be able to see our journey as we become continuous cruisers.
